What this is, both ways
What the lab offers
- Supervision across two universities and two disciplines — health geography and public health.
- A live project from your first term, not a training exercise.
- Fieldwork, and the methods training to do it properly.
- Co-authorship on what you help produce.
What the lab asks
- A question you actually want to answer, not a topic you can tolerate.
- Willingness to work with communities on their terms.
- Care with data, and honesty about what it does not show.
- Writing — early, often, and rewritten.

Nothing is advertised at the moment. That is not a closed door — most students who join the lab arrive by writing to us rather than through a posting.
How applying works
Four steps, about three weeks

You send the form
Your CV and a few paragraphs on what you want to work on. Fifteen minutes, not a weekend.

We read it
Both principal investigators read every application. If your interests fit a project we are running, or one we want to start, you will hear back within three weeks.

We talk
A conversation about the research, the funding, and whether the lab can support what you want to do. We would rather say so early.

You apply to the programme
A place in the lab is not a place at the university. If it fits, we will tell you which programme to apply to and what its deadlines are.
